Na plotsdoofheid in 2006 opleiding aan fotovakschool gaan doen en na CI-operatie en revalidatie freelance fotograaf geworden naast baan aan TU Eindhoven als systeembeheerder. Door CI veel beter gaan spraakverstaan en zodanig veel zelfvertrouwen dat werken als freelancer geen enkel probleem is. Ik blijf uiteraard nog altijd slechthorend, maar heb totaal geen vrees meer om iets verkeerd te verstaan en stap met veel zelfvertrouwen bij klanten binnen.
- Implanted AgeAdolescent TeenHearing LossSince BirthImplantedLeftOp dit moment ben ik werkzaam op de Radboud Universiteit in Nijmegen, waar ik een promotieonderzoek doe naar het begrijpend lezen van internetteksten bij dove/slechthorende leerlingen en leerlingen met taalontwikkelingsstoornis. Ik ben zwaar slechthorend geboren en mijn linkeroor ging zo achteruit, dat mijn hoortoestel op een gegeven moment niet meer bruikbaar was. Ik ben in een horende wereld opgegroeid, heb horende vrienden en heb regulier onderwijs gevolgd.
- Implanted AgeMiddle-aged AdultHearing LossSlowly ProgressiveImplantedLeftIn 2007 ben ik links geïmplanteerd nadat ik in ongeveer 15 jaar tijd progressief steeds dover ben geworden. De operatie betekende het einde van een periode van grote onzekerheid, frustratie, angst en steeds meer sociale isolatie. Ik ben inmiddels de 40 gepasseerd, getrouwd met Sylvie en samen hebben we 2 volwassen kinderen. In dit 2-talige gezin wordt vooral Frans gesproken, gemengd met Nederlands.
